Diploma in Sustainable Development

    Course Overview

With the perpetual development of the world economy and population, more and more of our natural resources are being continuously tapped for consumption. To be able to sustain ourselves, these resources need to be used in such a way that meets both current and future human needs. This course will give you an understanding of the importance of sustainability, what sustainability is exactly, and the main sustainability systems in use today.

To address a number of interlinked challenges that have an effect on communities, economies and ecological systems, in 2015, the world adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that committed the global community to eradicating poverty and doing this within planetary boundaries. In 2016, the global Climate Agreement also came into effect. It is evident that if the issues have been recognized to slow down the pace at which sustainable development is realized globally then there is a need to niche the gap.

More and more opportunities arise from the need to invest substantially in repairing the future. There is a greater need than ever before to prepare capable young people for futures that are dependent on their own abilities to inspire, network, create and efficiently organize across sectors. There is also need that the environment is well taken care of to serve the needs of the current population as well as that of the future population.
